CMCSEA has identified key themes to promote inclusive urban mobility in the Southeast Asian region through Movement, Awareness, and Skillshare. These areas focus on creating inclusive, sustainable, low-carbon transportation systems across Southeast Asian cities and urbanizing communities.
This area focuses on integrating active mobility (walking, cycling, micro-mobility) into city transport systems using human-centered design. We prioritize piloting solutions and city-level campaigns that promote active transport as part of a low-carbon future. These solutions include the following:
Leveraging positive challenges and incentives to drive the demand for inclusive, accessible, and safe urban mobility transport options that move more people (than cars), CMCSEA supports and initiates challenges that recognize promising acts of leadership of cities in Southeast Asia. We aim to set ambitious goals, adopt policies, and implement programs that provide Southeast Asian citizens with inclusive, accessible, reliable, and safe transport options and contribute to making Southeast Asian cities breathe cleaner air.
This area aims to accelerate the adoption of low-carbon transport options (active mobility and electric vehicles) within last mile delivery services in Southeast Asia, promoting cleaner transport solutions for businesses. We believe that businesses are drivers and vehicles for change that in turn makes cities liveable for everyone. We also stand in solidarity with our global network partners as they engage and challenge corporations to commit to cleaner delivery fleets.
As a community, we are committed to growing the reach of the CMCSEA network by supporting network members through sharing of expertise, stories, lessons, and good practices. We are also dedicated to reaching out to our respective communities to highlight their stories about addressing the urban challenges of air pollution, traffic congestion, and poor quality of life amid a warming climate. We seed creative and innovative ideas and solutions for making streets and communities in cities more inclusive, especially for the most vulnerable groups, and helping Southeast Asian cities address the worsening air pollution. Our goal is to inspire behavioral change and promote inclusive and sustainable urban mobility solutions across the region.
