The rapid expansion of e-commerce in Southeast Asia has fueled the growth of Last Mile Delivery (LMD) services across the region. However, this expansion comes with significant challenges, including high emissions, urban congestion, weak labor protections, and inefficiencies in logistics infrastructure.
In response to these challenges, the Clean Mobility Collective Southeast Asia (CMC SEA) conducted LMD case studies in the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam. These studies were led by the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities (ICSC), ITDP Indonesia, AIT Thailand, and Live & Learn Vietnam. In February 2025, CMC SEA convened a regional workshop at the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand to consolidate the research findings and align on a common narrative. This process identified shared challenges and opportunities, and produced key recommendations to advance a just and sustainable transition in the LMD sector across the region.
